MoonlitDays

– Writings from the Heart

The road to our destination
Unwound before us ad infinitum,
The lush green fields on either side
Stretched endlessly, merging with the horizon;
The village folks, up and about,
Busy with their daily chores,
Vendors trading their wares,
Cattle grazing serenely on the meadows,
The rocky faces of the hills
Aglow with streams from the showers,
Weaving weird patterns from the sun’s rays;
Dark clouds looming large in the sky,
Only to wither away as the mercury rose.

Somnolent villages and cowdung-coated
Courtyards of Chennai villages
And narrow winding roads,
An occasional bike rider,
And mini temples welcomed us,
Soon giving way to the highway,
Magnificent trees standing sentinel
On either side, their intertwining
Branches forming a canopy of leaves,
An endless tunnel of trees
For you to drive through.
