The upper deck of the “Nefertiti”
Was agog with merry makers,
Karaoke ruling the roost from the word “GO”.
As our boat, swaying gracefully, slid
Across the Arabian Sea towards the West,
The evening skies turned red, heralding another sunset.
The Lord of the Heavens was getting ready
For His dip, to rise again the next day.
Mesmerised by the magnificent evening skies
Displaying kaleidoscopic patterns,
We opted to sojourn with Mother Nature.
The myriad hues of the western sky
Only the Supreme Artist can create.
Albeit for the short period it lasted, the divine image
Still lingers in our memories.
Slowly, inexorably, the magical moments faded.
Darkness enveloped the skies,
Leaving us to re-live our memories.
The ocean floor was aglow with lights
From incoming and outgoing vessels and fishing boats.
Unknown to us, the “Nefertiti”
Took a U-turn to head back home
To the accompaniment of a light shower,
Suddenly waking us up to reality.
